How long is each session?
Do you take insurance?
Why don’t you take insurance?
We do not take insurance because we have found that working directly with insurance companies for therapy is quite limiting to both therapists and clients. Insurance companies can often dictate the type of treatment and the length of treatment for clients, regardless of our therapeutic recommendations and expertise.
Additionally, our previous experience working with insurance companies involved too much time dealing with the bureaucracy of insurance and billing discrepancies. Instead, we would prefer to focus our full attention and energy on our clients and their needs.
How does scheduling work?
What if I need to cancel my session?
What types of problems do you work with?
We see clients who are struggling with many types of issues.
Here is a short list: relationship issues, depression, anxiety, abuse/trauma, teens, young adults, men’s issues, women’s issues, identity, self-esteem, parenting, boundaries, psychosis, anger, grief and loss, sexual problems, divorce, life transitions, LGBTQ issues, and more.
What happens in a typical session?
We won’t repeatedly ask you, “And how did that make you feel?” Sessions with us are collaborative and involve sharing and questioning.
You will get the opportunity to talk about all the thoughts, feelings, and situations that are keeping you stuck or causing you pain. Your therapist will listen and provide insight into your situation and where they see the unhealthy patterns forming in your life and relationships. They will also give you tools and skills to help you cope with overwhelming thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Sessions can be a freeing experience – one where you will receive unconditional support and acceptance. It may be the first time you don’t feel judged or looked down on. While empathetic and compassionate, we may challenge you and your thinking because growth does not always occur in your comfort zone.
We will identify your strengths and opportunities for change. Then together, we will set goals focusing on you and your needs.
